Tagcon DBA Runners & Riders

As several people have contacted regarding the 15mm DBA competition at Tagcon I thought there may be some interest in the latest news. Specifically, a list of "Runners and Riders" for the competition which is to be held this Saturday.
  • Stephen: II/3 Classical Indian
  • Tim: II/7 Late Achaemenid Persian
  • Keith: II/9 Syracusan
  • Mike: II/32 Later Carthaginian
  • Lewis: II/53 Ancient British
  • Tony: II/64 Middle Imperial Roman (East)
  • Scott: II/67 Early Ostrogoths
  • Mark: II/83 Patrician Roman (West)
  • Barrie: II/83 Patrician Roman (East)
  • Ian: II/84 African Vandal
This of course amounts to ten players and a non-playing organiser which, I suspect, makes Tagcon the largest DBA competition in New Zealand. The organiser advises the competition will comprise eight rounds with most players having one bye, so generally seven games.

For Tagcon the terrain is pre-set by the organiser. However, I understand that with three Littorial armies three tables have a waterway on one table edge. This promises to set the scene for some potentially unusual deployments, especially by the African Vandals and their charging cavalry. It should be pointed out that Agathocles, tyrant of Syracuse, and his hoplites, some of whom are shown above, will undertake no such ploy.

After the main competition a large Big Battle DBA game is planned for the evening. The hoplites of Greece (II/5) will be deploying for battle against the Achaemenid Persian host (II/7) with the Greeks, hopefully, driving back the despotic and corrupt Persians thus freeing Asia Minor from the Persian yoke.

Now I just need to pack up my hoplites and associated troops, including of course Agathocles, for the trip down to Tagcon...
